Distilled on the tropical shores of Goa, this mahogany-hued single malt is an unpeated expression from Paul John’s Select Cask range. Built on Indian six-row barley and matured in a climate where the angel’s share reaches 8% a year, the whisky develops depth and integration far faster than its Scottish counterparts. The Port cask finish adds a darker, more resinous register: vanilla, dry resin, dark plum and red liquorice on the nose, with blackcurrant, milk chocolate and brown sugar behind. The palate turns to candied fruit, light ginger and peppery nutmeg over a trace of sweet oak, closing long and zesty on orange mocha and spiced chocolate.

Goa’s former Portuguese enclave makes the Port cask a natural choice rather than an affectation, and the expression has been recognised accordingly: a Master title at The Spirits Business Global Asian Masters 2025, and Best Indian Single Malt, Gold and Category Winner in the no-age-statement category at the World Whiskies Awards 2026.
