The origins and naming of Seagram’s V.O., a renowned whisky produced at Joseph E. Seagram’s former Waterloo Distillery, remain shrouded in mystery. According to family tradition, “V.O.” stands for “Very Own,” as it was originally crafted as a special whisky blend for Joseph E. Seagram’s own family. However, some argue that the initials signify “Very Old,” in line with the distiller’s claim that it was a blend of exceptionally aged Canadian whiskies. Seagram’s V.O. is a classic Canadian whisky blend, carefully crafted with spirits aged for at least 6 years.

The tale unfolds during a post-dinner conversation among the Seagram family, leading to the creation of the blend. The letters “VO” may very well represent “very own,” as it was indeed their unique and cherished blend.
