From its origins:

On a total vineyard area of 7.5 hectares (Tannat, Pinenc, Cabernet Sauvignon), only 5 hectares are dedicated to the production of the Grand Vin. The terroir of the Monastère de Saint-Mont is unique in the appellation due to its exceptional richness in clay with laminated layers and its cool exposure (northeast-facing slopes and plateaus). Here, the Tannat grape develops an unparalleled tannic structure and power thanks to regulated and limited water supply. In the Monastère’s plots, the Tannat grape achieves full maturity towards the end of the growing season while retaining its lively character.

In the cellar:

The aging of this cuvée takes place in barrels for 12 to 14 months. The final aging of the batch is carried out in tanks for an additional 4 months to bring complete harmony to this cuvée.

On the palate:

This wine presents a dark and brilliant red color with black reflections. The attack is assertive, offering intense fruit notes. In the mid-palate, the spices are carried by an enormous tannic structure. Power forms the backbone of this wine, but one should not forget its subtle core, rich in fruit.
