The 2017 Littlemill Private Release was a special limited edition whisky release. It was curated by master blender Michael Henry as an homage to the original character of the Littlemill distillery. The aim was to capture the lighter, floral spirit reminiscent of the triple distillation process used during the Duncan Thomas era.

For this release, eight casks from the 1990 distillations were selected. These casks were chosen based on their strong floral character and subtle wood notes. The distillations took place between May 11th and May 29th, 1990.

The casks were filled at a strength of 68.8%, which allowed them to preserve more of the original distillery character as they matured in refill bourbon barrels. The use of refill bourbon barrels also imparted a softer wood influence to the whisky. After the casks were chosen, they were married together in fresh bourbon barrels for a period of 12 months before bottling.

The release consisted of 500 individually numbered limited edition bottles. Each bottle was engraved to signify its uniqueness and exclusivity.
