A Legacy Spanning Almost 400 Years: Past, Present, and Beyond

With a history enriched by nearly four centuries, our journey encapsulates a tapestry of remarkable narratives, and our trajectory is poised for an even more radiant future. From inception, our evolution has been steered by fundamental cornerstones – an innate entrepreneurial vigor, an aspiration to flourish, and an unwavering resilience.

Our origins are deeply rooted in the Cognac realm of France, which subsequently paved the way for the emergence of coffee houses and bars in New Orleans, the iconic Sazerac Cocktail, and ultimately culminated in the formation of the esteemed entity we now know as the Sazerac Company.

Enthusiasm for our forthcoming chapters is palpable, as we embark on our role as a premier global spirits enterprise committed to presenting the world’s finest libations to our valued patrons. Concurrently, we are dedicated to fostering an exceptional work environment for our team and exhibiting sincere concern for the communities we are an integral part of.

1630s to 1800 – Cognac Region of France: Our French Origins

Our saga commences in the Cognac region of western France, where the Sazerac family name has commanded admiration and reverence in the world of spirits. The eponymous Sazerac de Forge et Fils was the original spirit employed in the creation of the Sazerac Cocktail and subsequently became synonymous with the distinguished Sazerac coffee house.

1800 to 1850 – New Orleans: Sazerac Arrives in the Big Easy

The Sazerac legacy extends to New Orleans, where Sazerac De Forge Et Fils Cognac found a home and swiftly became a local favorite, giving rise to various renditions of the Sazerac House. Situated in the heart of historic New Orleans, these establishments, along with their illustrious proprietors and patrons, played an instrumental role in shaping the wholesale liquor landscape that would eventually evolve into the thriving Sazerac Company.

1900 to 1950 – New Orleans: Prohibition Stirs Things Up

The dawn of the 20th century ushered in the era of growth and expansion, as the Sazerac Company navigated through the dynamic landscape of the spirits industry. This period saw the launch of TAAKA Vodka, a pioneering entrant into the US market, which evolved into one of our most triumphant brands.

2000 to Today – Global: Sazerac Comes Full Circle

As we transitioned into the 21st century, the Sazerac Company embarked on a trajectory that came full circle, reconnecting with its roots while embarking on new horizons. Ventures such as the purchase of the A. Smith Bowman Distillery, the introduction of Sazerac Rye Whiskey reminiscent of its 1880s counterpart, and the acquisition of esteemed brands and facilities solidified our status as a global powerhouse.

Through its rich and diverse journey, the Sazerac Company continues to stand as a testament to resilience, innovation, and a legacy that spans generations. As we embark on new horizons, we carry forth the torch ignited almost 400 years ago, guided by an unwavering commitment to excellence, community, and the pursuit of exceptional spirits. The future shines brighter than ever as we weave the next chapter of our enduring narrative.
