Description
More than twelve years in oak, and the oldest Calvados in the Sausseux range. The house calls it floral and fruity, and speaks of an extreme rarity and a fine roundness on the palate.
Calvados at this age has left the sharp orchard fruit of youth well behind. Twelve years in wood is what turns pressed Normandy apples into something closer to a fine brandy, and it is the bottle in the range worth keeping for the end of a meal rather than a mixer.
Sausseux is the Calvados label of Distillerie des Moisans, a family house at Sireuil in the Charente, founded in the 1960s by Roland Bru and still run by his descendants.
