Description
Launched in 2017, this was the first age statement Mackmyra had ever released — a decade of maturation from a distillery that only started filling casks in 1999. Matured underground in the disused Bodås mine, some fifty metres down, where the cool and stable conditions give a slow, even extraction.
Casks A combination of first-fill and ex-bourbon casks, new American oak, and new American oak seasoned with Oloroso sherry.
Nose Fresh and floral with gentle spice — honey, vanilla and cola over orchard fruit, pear especially, with hints of apple and citrus.
Palate Spicy and sweet on entry, honey and vanilla with confectionery sweetness alongside fruit and florals, the sherry building with raisin, a touch of chocolate and a hint of coffee.
Finish Oak comes forward and marks the age, with wood spice and a peppery edge, long and lasting.
Bottled at 46.1%, non-chill-filtered, natural colour.
