Description
A triple-distilled single malt from 100% malted barley, aged at least twelve years in ex-bourbon barrels and then finished in Marsala casks from Marco de Bartoli, the celebrated Sicilian producer at Samperi. Non-chill filtered, and released in strictly limited numbers.
Nose Dried fruit, mocha and vanilla.
Palate Juicy, savoury and light, opening onto fruit.
Character A light, fruit-driven malt closing on dry oak.
Knappogue Castle was founded by Mark Edwin Andrews, a Texan architect who bought and restored the 15th-century castle in Co. Clare and started bottling vintage Irish single malt at a time when blends ruled the market. The Cask Finish Series applies unusual wine casks to the core 12 Year Old.
