< cite index="25-1">Named after an inlet on Islay’s rugged Atlantic coast, Sanaig is a vatting of both sherry and bourbon casks, the high proportion of oloroso sherry adding a balance of dried fruits and spices to the classic Kilchoman citrus sweetness and peat smoke character. Where the bourbon-led Machir Bay carries the distillery’s brighter, more floral side, Sanaig turns the balance towards the sherry — the richer, darker counterpart within the core range.

< cite index="25-1">Fragrant heather, raisins, pear and orange peel open the nose, with waves of stone fruit, mixed spice and rich peat smoke. Over-ripe plums, red cherries and hints of citrus give way on the palate to barbecue peat smoke, toffee, oak and dark chocolate, while the finish is mouth-coating — mixed fruit, caramel, cinnamon and clove over layers of brown sugar, spice, peat smoke and lasting sweetness. < cite index="30-1">Bottled at 46% without chill-filtration or added colouring.
