Description
Eighteen years on Orkney, in a high proportion of first-fill sherry-seasoned European and American oak. Highland Park cuts its own peat from Hobbister Moor, and the heather in it gives an aromatic, fragrant smoke quite unlike the medicinal peat of Islay.
Nose Gentle peat and aromatic smoke, soft toffee, honey and florals, with ripe cherries dusted in bittersweet cocoa, honeycomb and candied orange peel.
Palate Brittle toffee, stewed fruits, peat honey and a hint of coffee, superbly balanced with a velvety delivery.
Finish Long and elegant, smoke and toffee mingling, soft and round.
The distillery has worked on Orkney since 1798, and the 18 Year Old is its most decorated bottling — Gold and an Ultimate Recommendation at the 2021 International Spirits Challenge.
