Tasted & described
Tasting notes
Nose
Bold and rich: treacle toffee, oat biscuits and sultanas, with muscovado sugar and toasted oak.
Palate
Sweet and complex: salted caramel, rolling tobacco, caramelised nuts and maple syrup, with oak spice and stone fruit.
Finish
Warm and long, with coffee cake, crème caramel and burnt sugar.
About this bottle
Tomintoul sits in the Glenlivet, close to the highest village in the Scottish Highlands, and is known for a gentle, fruity style of Speyside malt. Its Master Distiller, Robert Fleming, hand-picks the casks for the older bottlings.
The 25 Years Old was named Best Scotch Whisky at The Global Spirits Masters 2020. It is the deepest and richest of the range, a whisky for a slow evening.
Neat, after dinner; it also stands up well next to a cigar.
