Description
Swedish oak is the wood that defines Mackmyra, and this is the bottling built to show it. The recipe runs 68% ex-bourbon, 12% new Oloroso, 10% new Swedish oak and 10% new American oak — and it is that Swedish tenth that does the talking. Denser and more tannic than American or European oak, it brings markedly more spice and dried ginger.
Nose Pear, apricot and fresh citrus, sweet vanilla fudge and honey, and spicier notes of ginger and pepper.
Palate Lives up to the nose — pear, citrus and dried ginger, the sweetness turning to caramel, sweet almond and a slightly bready note, with spicy oak showing through.
Finish Long and warming, sweet milk chocolate balancing the robust oak, pepper and ginger.
Bottled at 46.1%, non-chill-filtered, natural colour.
